Keystone State Games 2009

My figure skating daughter competed in what has to be her 7th Keystone State Games competition. This year made me realize that I should really shut my mouth before sticking my foot into it. Because she is in the middle school musical, she hasn't been training quite as hard as she usually does every year for this competition. She also had a growing spurt which thorws your skating off, new skates and moved up a level. On the way there I had the "please do not cry" conversation with her. Then we laughed and I (for some unknown reason) said "Even you EVEN pull out a Gold medal in your freestyle THIS year - I will buy you the iPod that you didn't get for Christmas." I was so certain I was safe. You can all imagine the outcome on this one, right? Not only did she take 1st place in her Freestyle, she placed 1st in her Compulsory program AND her Artistic program. Her artistic is my favorite because she skates to a Carly Smithson version of Blackbird. She looked so graceful and mature out there! I am a proud mama!

More Black Tie & Boots....

Thanks so much to Wil Gravatt for asking me to be a part of this good time! Not only did he book the talent for this deal, but he also performed! I noticed that his band was extremely popular. As soon as his band started, the people started 2-stepping around me! Scared the crap out of me they were moving so fast! Kudos to all of the performers!!

Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball 2009

Kenny's friend, Wil Gravatt asked Kenny and I to help him out with the Black Tie & Boots Ball in Washington. Thrown by the Texas State Society, Wil was in charge of booking the talent for this event that happened the day before the Inauguration. Kenny helped with the Merchandising and I took photos for Wil. When he uploads them to his web site, I will send you guys there.

Let's talk about this event... A country music fest, held at the Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor, this event was amazing! There was 3 or 4 stages going on with different acts throughout the night. I was thrown headfirst into the action and loved it. The intensity, the hysteria, the buzz - I live for this kind of thing. Not being a country music fan, I had to find out quickly who these people were and go with it! Casey Donahew Band, Sunny Sweeney and Neil McCoy ended up being a few of my faves. They were all very sweet and LOVED having their pictures taken! Nothing like running around in a ball gown and heels taking photos! GOOD TIMES!

Trying again... Welcome 2009!

So again, I am trying to update this blog. I have lots of stuff to put on here and a ton of stuff has happened in the last month so I will update all today!

Let's start with a picture from New Years Eve! The kids and I spent NYE with Kenny at First Night in Fredericksburg, VA. We first went to Joe's Crab Shack. Then the kids and I froze but had fun walking around downtown listening to all the cool bands. Took some photos of the bands and a good time was had!

Yes folks here we are in a whole new year. I of course have not been able to keep up with the blog as previously thought. Should have known better, right? Here's to trying again though.
